Careful, Some of These Bite (8 Photos)

By Vidar
Two photographs show a toothy carnivorous plant mural above real flowers and skeleton sculptures pouring beer through a rib cage into a mug.

The street has teeth

A sculpture catches a passerby, a painted plant grows fangs above real flowers, and a bear holds a cyclist in its paws. Elsewhere, a wall pipe becomes a crying mouth, a pink cartoon grimaces beside a neon portrait, and a skeleton drinks with zero concern for anatomy. These eight photos turn open mouths into props, traps and punch lines.

One skeleton pours beer into its open mouth so the stream runs through its rib cage into a mug, while another skeleton watches.

🍺 “Recycle” — By ItSkeletal in Fogelsville, Pennsylvania, USA 🇺🇸

One skeleton pours beer straight into its open mouth. Instead of stopping at the ribs, the stream runs through the body and into a mug held below—a perfectly literal recycling system.

💡 Nerd Fact: ItSkeletal is Manny Julio from Fogelsville, who told writer Janelle Lassalle, “I am not an artist.” His first scene, a 1950s-style living room where everyone was a skeleton, went up in his yard for Halloween and was meant to be a one-time thing.

A carnivorous plant mural by Johann’s Art opens its sharp teeth above a real planter full of flowers in Eu, Normandy, France.

🌺 Carnivorous Plant — By Johann’s Art in Eu, Normandy, France 🇫🇷

The painted jaws hover directly above a real planter, turning the flowers and leaves into part of the creature. The sharper the teeth look, the more innocent the pink blooms become.

💡 Nerd Fact: Johann’s Art is Johann Grenier, also known as Made in Graffiti, who is originally from Eu. French broadcaster ICI credits him with the 60-meter mural facing the beach at Le Tréport.

Before-and-after views of a wall pipe in Istanbul: Semiok paints a crying Earth face around the round opening, which becomes its mouth.

🌍 “Latest Status” — By Semiok in Istanbul, Turkey 🇹🇷

Semiok uses a dark pipe opening as the mouth of a crying planet. The old water stain below becomes a stream running down the wall.

A mountain biker lies across the paws of a giant open-mouthed bear statue, with a bicycle below and a smaller bear statue nearby.

🐻 Bear Hug

The open-mouthed bear is holding—not biting—the cyclist stretched across its paws. The mountain bike and gear at the statue’s feet complete the staged scene.

A blue-and-magenta mural by NIDE in Bangkalan shows a woman in round yellow-tinted glasses with parted lips beside a small mustached pink character with its mouth wide open.

🕶️ Neon Glare — By NIDE in Bangkalan, Indonesia 🇮🇩

A small pink character with a mustache grimaces beside a much larger blue-and-magenta face in round yellow glasses. His mouth hangs open; hers is only just parted.

💡 Nerd Fact: NIDE comes from Tangerang, Indonesia. In his ThrowUp profile, he says the name comes from “natural idealist” and that he has painted consistently since 2010.

Two stacked views of El BOBBY Gr4ff’s dog mural in Savona, showing the crowned dog face between large white graffiti letters and a close-up of its crooked teeth.

👑 The Dog King — By El BOBBY Gr4ff in Savona, Italy 🇮🇹

A huge black nose, crooked teeth and a small yellow crown turn this dog into a nervous street monarch. The eyes look in different directions while the grin takes over the wall.

A visitor lies on the paving beside one of Robert Arneson’s Yin & Yang Egghead heads at UC Davis, her leg posed inside its open mouth.

😮 “Yin & Yang” — By Robert Arneson in Davis, California, USA 🇺🇸

A visitor leans away just as the giant head’s open mouth meets her leg. The open-mouthed head is half of Robert Arneson’s Yin & Yang, which has stood in front of Wright Hall at UC Davis since 1992.

💡 Nerd Fact: The pale heads are bronze. The Robert Arneson Archive lists Yin & Yang as a 1992 bronze in an edition of three and gives the two heads as 58 × 41 × 39 and 38 × 58 × 48 inches.

A close-up mural by Lucek Lucek in Puebla, Mexico, shows a smiling face with gold teeth and a metallic headpiece.

😁 Golden Smile — By Lucek Lucek in Puebla, Mexico 🇲🇽

A broad smile fills the wall, with gold teeth catching the warm orange light. The tilted face and direct gaze make the portrait feel close enough to answer back.
