3D street art that fools the eye
A truck seems to sit in an empty lot, until the next photo reveals the concrete blocks underneath. These fifteen works use paint to give solid surfaces unexpected depth, with a few creatures apparently spilling out into the street.

🐓 Giant Rooster — By Odeith in Portugal 🇵🇹
Even up on a chair, the man in the red hoodie only reaches the bird’s chest. The corner of breeze-block walls is real; the rooster is folded across it, its dark tail fanning over one wall and its body standing on the other.

🚪 A Door Into Somewhere Else — By Miles Toland
The lock and doorknob are still there, but the flat surface seems to spiral into a deep, dark opening. Miles Toland’s portal even spills over the frame onto the siding.

🐬 Dolphins Around the Corner — By CHEONE
Two dolphins seem to swim inside a little blue building. CHEONE wraps the nearest dolphin’s face around the corner, while the real windows remain above its back.

🫠 “The Vision” — By CHEONE in Milan, Italy 🇮🇹
The windows, balconies and cornices look as if the whole facade is melting. CHEONE painted them on Casa Maiocchi at Corso di Porta Romana 113 and unveiled the mural in July 2021, taking cues from Gaudí’s Casa Batlló.
💡 Nerd Fact: The commission came from shading company MV Line, and its project page explains the joke: the lower windows stay protected by its sunshades while the rest of the building seems to melt in the heat.

🚛 A Truck Made of Concrete — By Odeith
The wheels, fuel tank and cab are painted onto a set of concrete blocks. Odeith makes the truck look as though it has been parked there for years; the bare blocks in the second photo give it away.

🏡 “La Guinguette” — By A-Fresco / Patrick Commecy in Brives-Charensac, France 🇫🇷
The open café, its customers and the woman upstairs are all part of A-Fresco’s painted façade at the corner of Rue de Charensac and Avenue Charles Dupuy, completed in December 2012. The real roof and flower bed make it easy to believe there is a room behind those blue doors.
💡 Local Fact: The newspaper reader is a nod to Joseph Servant, who founded the town’s twinning committee in 1987.

🎩 “Metal Fingers” — By Taroe in Rotterdam, Netherlands 🇳🇱
The record shop, its shop windows and the two men in pink and white suits are all flat paint on the end wall of an apartment block. Taroe painted it entirely with brushes for ALL CAPS 2026 in Lombardijen; only the real balconies on the side give the wall away.

🌊 A Balcony by the Sea — By WD on Tinos, Greece 🇬🇷
WD’s Tinos mural opens a solid concrete block onto the sea, adding a seated figure and a cat. The painted horizon meets the real one, and the tiny balcony looks like somewhere you could sit.
💡 Artist Fact: WD (Wild Drawing) was born in Bali, Indonesia, and started out as a street artist in 2000; he later settled in Athens, where he lives and works.

🌙 Fishing for the Moon — By Nikolaj Arndt
A crescent moon glows at the bottom of a pool that seems to open in the pavement. Nikolaj Arndt paints rocks around the edge, and the ordinary street carries on just past them.

🐍 A Snake Along the Wall — By CHEONE
CHEONE coils a huge snake along a low wall, with its head and forked tongue seeming to cross onto the sidewalk. The painted shadow under its jaw sells it.

🪲 “Touching Earth” — By Odeith
Look at the bottom photo first: a plain, rain-stained concrete dome. Above it, the same dome is the striped back of an enormous beetle, its legs and feelers painted onto the ground and wall around it. Odeith posted it as “Touching Earth”; the figure bracing against its head gives the scale.

🏘️ A Town Square on a Parking Lot Wall — By Rober Bece in Santa Marta de Tormes, Spain 🇪🇸
The white parking lines run straight into a painted square with houses, balconies, shop signs and a fountain. The wall stands by the town hall on Plaza de España, and the scene pays tribute to the town’s shops and bars.

🐸 Super Distorted Frog — By Odeith
Odeith sits across from the giant blue frog, making the painted distortion read like a creature leaning out of the wall.

🥣 Porcelain Bowl and Swallow — By Odeith in Portugal 🇵🇹
A bowl, saucer and spoon seem to float off the wall while a swallow lands on the rim. The shadow behind them does the work: the porcelain looks as solid as the artist crouching below to finish it.
💡 Local Fact: The ceramic swallow is a familiar Portuguese symbol; Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro’s 1891 swallows still hang in the Tabacaria Mónaco on Lisbon’s Rossio square.

🦇 Something in the Corner — By SCAF
A crouching, winged creature fills what started as an empty corner. SCAF carries the painted claws and shadows onto the floor, so the figure seems to lean out into the room.
