Odeith’s 3D graffiti makes concrete disappear

A wrecked bus fills an abandoned room. A concrete dome becomes an enormous beetle. A blue frog faces a man in a folding chair, and a porcelain bowl seems to jut out from a house. Odeith makes these scenes convincing with paint, perspective and the shapes already in front of him.

Born in Damaia, Portugal, in 1976, Sérgio Odeith began experimenting with spray paint in the 1980s and developed his anamorphic work in 2005. He paints across corners, floors and adjoining walls so that distorted sections line up from a particular viewpoint. Several of these 20 images include a bare surface or a second angle: the trick is easier to appreciate when you can see what he started with.

Giant yellow-and-black wasp mural by Odeith appears to hover off a peeling wall in an abandoned building, with the artist seated beneath it reaching toward the insect.

🐝 “Mimic Wasp” — By Odeith

A wasp larger than the painter seems to hover beside the wall. Its painted shadow creates the gap; Odeith’s hand reaching toward its abdomen makes the scale unmistakable.

Before-and-after photos of Odeith’s 3D bus illusion in Vila Franca de Xira, Portugal, showing a man seated above a painted wrecked bus and the bare concrete block beneath.

🚌 Wrecked Bus — By Odeith in Vila Franca de Xira, Portugal 🇵🇹

The battered bus is painted across a concrete block in an abandoned factory. Compare the two views: the block’s shape stays the same, while the windows, wheels and shadow turn it into a vehicle.

Anamorphic blue-and-brown frog mural by Odeith on a damaged interior wall, facing a man relaxing in a folding chair inside an abandoned building.

🐸 A Frog Across the Room — By Odeith

The blue frog stretches toward a man sitting in a folding chair. Peeling plaster remains visible around its toes, keeping the real wall in view even as the head seems to project into the room.

Before-and-after photos of Odeith’s Classic Day 3D graffiti, turning a rectangular concrete block into a black vintage Rolls-Royce with round headlights and a chrome grille.

🚗 “Classic Day” — By Odeith

A stained concrete block becomes a black Rolls-Royce, complete with chrome grille and a “CLASSIC” plate. Odeith shared the work as “Classic day”; the unpainted view reveals the car’s unlikely foundation.

Giant rooster street art by Odeith spans two concrete-block walls, with orange, blue and black feathers and a man in a red hoodie standing on a chair beside it.

🐓 Giant Rooster — By Odeith

The rooster fills a corner made from concrete blocks. A man standing on a chair still falls short of its red comb, while the tail feathers spread across the adjoining wall. Photo by 1904manuel via Wikimedia Commons (cropped; CC BY-SA 4.0).

Before-and-after photographs of Odeith’s 3D camper van mural painted across a concrete corner in a derelict building, with a person leaning out of an opening.

🚐 Camper in the Corner — By Odeith

The projecting cabin, front wheel and windshield are all painted onto an existing structure. A person leaning from the real opening becomes the camper’s passenger.

Before-and-after photos of Odeith’s Touching Earth street art, showing an orange-and-black striped beetle painted across a concrete dome with a person pushing against its head.

🪲 “Touching Earth” — By Odeith

The rounded dome supplies the beetle’s shell; painted legs and antennae spread beyond it. Odeith titled the work “Touching Earth”. Beside the painted head, a person leans forward as if trying to push the beetle back.

Two viewing angles of Odeith’s anamorphic chrome faucet mural with a black-and-red insect beneath the spout, revealing how the painted tap changes shape with perspective.

🚰 A Tap from Two Angles — By Odeith

These two views show what anamorphosis does. The stretched tap in one photograph becomes a compact chrome fixture from the other viewpoint, with a dark insect hanging beneath the spout.

Before-and-after photos of Odeith’s 3D train graffiti, transforming a white room and adjoining warehouse wall into a green railway carriage with an orange stripe.

🚆 Train Through the Warehouse — By Odeith

A box-shaped room and the wall behind it line up as a weathered train carriage. The building’s original corner becomes the front of the train, while the painted body continues behind a real pillar.

Work-in-progress and finished views of turquoise, black and red 3D graffiti lettering by Odeith wrapping around the doors and corners of a small white building.

🩵 Letters Around a Corner — By Odeith

Angular blue letters appear to jut out from a small white structure. The work-in-progress and finished views let you trace the doorways and wall edges that remain underneath the painted geometry.

Before-and-after photographs of Odeith’s anamorphic truck mural, with a green-and-cream cab and black chassis painted onto a freestanding concrete structure.

🚛 Concrete Becomes a Truck — By Odeith

A green-and-cream truck cab appears where a plain concrete wall stood. The painted chassis extends across the adjoining surface, so the heavy vehicle seems to occupy the empty yard.

Before-and-after photos of metallic silver 3D graffiti lettering by Odeith across a white interior corner, appearing to project outward like polished metal.

🪞 Chrome Lettering — By Odeith

Dark outlines, reflected highlights and deep shadows make the lettering look like bent metal. The blank-corner photograph shows how far the illusion reaches beyond the structure’s real edges.

Large black-and-white mural of glossy black lips and exposed teeth by Odeith, surrounded by graffiti tags on a weathered wall.

👄 Glossy Black Lips — By Odeith

Bright reflections curve across the dark lips, while pale teeth catch the light. Graffiti tags surround the mouth on the weathered wall.

Street art mural by Odeith showing two large silver fish lying horizontally across a pale exterior wall below a terracotta-tiled roof.

🐟 Two Silver Fish — By Odeith

Two fish stretch across a pale wall beneath a tiled roof. Their silvery scales and dark edges give them volume without relying on the building-sized corner tricks seen elsewhere in the collection.

Before-and-after photos of Odeith’s kangaroo and miniature van mural in Darwin, Australia, incorporating a utility box at the base of a building.

🦘 Kangaroo over a Van — By Odeith in Darwin, Australia 🇦🇺

The kangaroo appears to balance above a tiny painted van, incorporating the utility box at the base of the wall. Odeith created the illusion for the 2019 Darwin Street Art Festival.

Before-and-after photographs of a rounded concrete structure transformed by Odeith into a white skull with deep black eye sockets.

💀 A Dome Becomes a Skull — By Odeith

The curved concrete surface supplies the rounded cranium. Painted black areas cut away the dome visually, creating hollow eye sockets, a nose cavity and a row of teeth.

Large brown-and-white skull illusion painted by Odeith on a domed concrete structure beside a metal railing and trees.

💀 Bone and Shadow — By Odeith

Warm brown shading gives this skull a weathered surface. The dark areas around the jaw and eye sockets make the curved structure appear carved rather than painted.

Yellow-and-black anamorphic frog graffiti by Odeith on pale concrete surfaces, with a splayed front foot, a painted shadow and a blue line crossing the scene.

🐸 Yellow Frog at the Corner — By Odeith

A splayed front foot reaches toward the camera. The shadow beneath the belly makes the yellow-and-black frog appear to sit above the pale concrete.

Odeith’s 3D street art depicting a blue-and-white porcelain bowl, tall spoon and flying swallow on a white wall with blue trim, with a person painting below.

🥣 Porcelain Bowl and Swallow — By Odeith

Blue decoration follows the bowl’s curved surface, and a painted spoon rises above its rim. The dark shadow beneath the bowl makes it seem to project from the white façade.

Giant blue-and-orange bird mural by Odeith appears to emerge from a weathered wall, with a seated person reaching up to touch its long beak.

🐦 “Bird Hole” — By Odeith

A blue-and-orange bird seems to push through the old wall, its beak meeting an outstretched hand. Odeith shows the painting taking shape in his Bird Hole process video.
