🐓 Big Rooster — By Odeith in Sintra, Portugal 🇵🇹

At a concrete corner photographed in May 2019 in Alcolombal, Sintra, Odeith recruits two walls and the floor to build one enormous bird. His signature anamorphic method joins perspective, shadow, and multiple planes so the rooster appears to occupy the space. An artist-posted process video compresses six hours of painting into one minute.

🌬️ Stillness in Motion: The Matka Series — By Olga Ziemska in Orońsko, Poland 🇵🇱

For this 2002 site-specific sculpture at the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, a life-size body gathers from hand-stacked willow branches while long lines sweep behind it like hair caught by the wind. The figure is still, yet its silhouette suggests forward motion.

💡 Nerd Fact: Ziemska’s studio record lists locally reclaimed willow branches and metal as the materials and describes the sculpture as temporary. It was the first work in an ongoing series exploring place and origin; Matka means “mother” in Polish.

🧱 Diego le robot — By Näutil in Saint-Pierre-Église, France 🇫🇷

Näutil turns a heavy concrete blockhouse into a giant toy-like robot head, using the structure’s shape and horizontal opening as part of the face. The artist’s official project page confirms the title Diego le robot, the location as Saint-Pierre-Église in Manche, and the year as 2017.

🐆 Pink Panther — By Matt Gondek in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦

Gondek seats the Pink Panther on a gold-and-blue throne and pulls the familiar figure downward into long drips. 🌱 Gentiana Lutea — By Mona Caron in Le Locle, Switzerland 🇨🇭

A single yellow gentian grows to architectural scale, its stem climbing past windows and its roots spreading across the base of the building. Painted in 2021 for Exomusée, the 250-square-metre mural rises 25 metres at 4 Rue Georges-Favre in Le Locle.

💡 Nerd Fact: On her official project page, Caron describes the plant’s prized bitter root as an ingredient in vermouths, liqueurs, syrups, and tinctures in the homeland of absinthe. Exomusée’s documentation adds that yellow gentian stem wood is used by watchmakers to hand-polish fine components.

🌸 La Baguenaude de Valmy — By Vinie in Paris, France 🇫🇷

At 87 Quai de Valmy in Paris’s 10th arrondissement, a girl in denim overalls stands above a staircase with her hands in her pockets and her eyes closed. Vinie uses the corner to lift the figure into view, while a bright cluster of painted flowers becomes her unmistakable hair.

💡 Nerd Fact: The City of Paris identifies the mural as La Baguenaude de Valmy. Vinie created it in 2017 as part of a public-art program chosen through Paris’s 2014 participatory budget, with artistic direction by the hip-hop cultural center La Place.

🌺 “Flora” — By OG Millie & Floratorium in New York City, USA 🇺🇸

OG Millie painted the portrait and Floratorium built the three-dimensional floral crown at Ampia Rooftop in Lower Manhattan. The flowers push beyond the painted wall, turning the portrait into part mural and part installation.

💡 Nerd Fact: Floratorium introduced the figure as Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers. The Metropolitan Museum of Art dates the Floralia festival to late April and early May.

🌳 “Hallow” — By Daniel Popper, formerly shown in Lisle, Illinois, USA 🇺🇸

Hallow was a 26-foot sculpture beside Meadow Lake at The Morton Arboretum. Visitors could walk through the opening in the figure’s chest while its hands and face framed the real trees beyond. It was one of five works in the Human+Nature exhibition, which opened in May 2021 and has since concluded.

💡 Nerd Fact: The Morton Arboretum was founded in 1922 by Joy Morton. His father, J. Sterling Morton, originated Arbor Day in Nebraska in 1872.

🌪️ “Twisting Tree” — By Jon Foreman & Layla Parkin at Waddesdon Manor, England, UK 🇬🇧

Jon Foreman and Layla Parkin followed the trunk’s natural turn outward, extending its roots with mud and surrounding them with yellow leaves. Foreman identifies Twisting Tree as a 2025 collaboration made for Art in Nature at Waddesdon Manor.

💡 Nerd Fact: Foreman says the pair spent three days making the work. They gathered mostly laurel leaves nearby and fixed every leaf to the ground with clay.
