🐔 “A Galinha dos Ovos d’Ouro” Peeks Through the Wall — By SMILE in Sintra, Portugal 🇵🇹
A wide-eyed hen peers through a painted opening in the wall, which includes a real ventilation grille. Its oversized beak, comb and staring eyes fill the façade.
In an August 2026 post, SMILE—whose real name is Ivo Santos—calls the mural A Galinha dos Ovos d’Ouro (“The Hen That Lays Golden Eggs”). He says it represents talent hidden in neighborhoods: people with dreams, creativity and potential who have not always had the chance to show it.
💡 Nerd Fact: The mural’s title echoes “The Goose & the Golden Egg”. In the fable, the owner kills the bird to get all its gold at once and destroys the source of his daily wealth.

💡 Nerd Fact: Domestic chicks have four types of single-cone photoreceptors, sensitive to ultraviolet, short-, medium- and long-wavelength light. Their color vision is tetrachromatic; typical human color vision uses three cone classes.

💡 Nerd Fact: Catwoman debuted in Batman #1 in 1940 under the name “The Cat”. Her earliest appearance relied on a disguise; the leather suit, whip and cowl came later.

💡 Nerd Fact: The legend began with a reported sighting near Ventas de Huelma in September 2020. After almost a week of searching, photographs showed that the animal was a large black cat. Even so, the municipality adopted the panther as an emblem.

🧡 “Andromeda” in Chrome and Neon — By The Color Wizard in Winthrop, Maine, USA 🇺🇸
The figure is titled Andromeda. Inspired by TRON, science fiction and fantasy art, the 8-by-20-foot mural was painted entirely with Kobra spray paint to create its chrome and neon effects.
💡 Nerd Fact: The actors’ glowing outlines in the original TRON were created through backlit animation rather than CGI. The actors were filmed in black and white; each frame was enlarged onto high-contrast film sheets called Kodaliths and then rephotographed with backlighting and color filters.
The mural was painted over three days for the first Art Park Festival at Homegrown Acres on Lakeside Farm Road in Winthrop.

Galeria Bielska BWA gives the 15-by-15-meter mural’s official title as Dusza natury – miłość (“Soul of Nature – Love”). At its center is the Dziecko-Kwiat (“Flower-Child”), a child’s face surrounded by plants inspired by local nature. The painted Art Nouveau frame refers to the city’s historic architecture.
Completed in 2026 at Plac Opatrzności Bożej 20, it was created through the Akademia Street Artu program as part of Bielsko-Biała – Polish Capital of Culture 2026, curated by Justyna Weronika Łabądź.
💡 Nerd Fact: Gleo photographs and studies her favorite flowers in every country she visits. For a 700-square-meter mural in The Hague’s Moerwijk district, created for Mauritshuis Murals, she combined them into a bouquet. Like its 1618 source painting by Ambrosius Bosschaert, it includes species that do not all bloom at the same time.

💡 Nerd Fact: Much of what became known as “Breton lace” was technically embroidery on machine-made tulle rather than lace made without a textile support. The tulle’s transparency, lightness and ability to hold starch allowed coifs to be shaped into complex structures.

🩸 A Blood-Stained Table Refers to Chile’s 2019 Protests — By Caiozzama in Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱
In the installation, Caiozzama depicts former Carabineros officer Claudio Crespo as a butcher behind a blood-stained table. A bowl of eyes sits on the table; below it is a winged child with bandaged eyes. The scene refers to people who suffered eye injuries during Chile’s 2019 protests.
Caiozzama installed it at the corner of Avenida Vicuña Mackenna and Carabineros de Chile, where Gustavo Gatica was struck by police pellets and blinded. The artist presented the work as a critique of injustice, and El Ciudadano documented its context.
💡 Nerd Fact: In January 2026, a Santiago court found that Crespo fired the shot that blinded Gustavo Gatica but acquitted him after concluding that he acted in self-defense. The Santiago Court of Appeals upheld the acquittal in August.
