In Gondek’s Toronto mural, the Pink Panther lounges on a gold-and-turquoise throne, one eye breaking apart in the artist’s deconstructed cartoon style. Long pink drips run from his hands and feet, but he still looks pleased with his seat.

💡 Nerd Fact: The Pink Panther began in the animated opening credits of the live-action film The Pink Panther (1963). His short The Pink Phink later won the Oscar for Short Subject (Cartoon) in 1965, with the award going to producers David H. DePatie and Friz Freleng.

The hopscotch grid reaches the wall, but Seth’s painted girl keeps going, leaving her shoes behind. He painted Viviane hésite for Lezarts de la Bièvre in June 2018 on Rue Buot in La Butte-aux-Cailles.

💡 Nerd Fact: Seth began traveling internationally to exchange ideas with local artists in 2003. These journeys led to his 2007 book Globe Painter and work as a documentary writer and presenter for Canal+’s Les Nouveaux Explorateurs, exploring countries through their urban art.

Paul sits beside a cup of coffee with the expression of someone who needs it. Zinn created Latte Apso with chalk, charcoal and a discarded gum spot in Ann Arbor on February 7, 2022. The gum becomes the little dog’s nose.

💡 Nerd Fact: The title echoes Lhasa Apso, a Tibetan dog breed historically kept as a monastery watchdog. Lhasas often worked alongside Tibetan Mastiffs: the small dogs sounded the alarm, while the larger dogs confronted intruders.

💡 Nerd Fact: Following surgery for bone cancer in 2015–2016, Golchini could not use her right arm for six months. Previously right-handed, she trained herself to work with her left hand. Her gallery says she continued making art with both hands.

💡 Nerd Fact: Shigeru Miyamoto recalls spotting drainage pipes in a concrete wall while walking home. They partly inspired Mario’s pipes, which let enemies in Mario Bros. circulate between the top and bottom of the screen.

💡 Nerd Fact: Olivier D’Hondt, known as Le CyKlop, began his street interventions in 2006. His name and characters refer to the Cyclopes of Greek mythology, including Polyphemus in Homer’s Odyssey. His stated aim is to extend street art from traditional surfaces to everyday objects.

Dalí stares out with wide eyes, his curled mustache framed by a golden circle and a leopard-print jacket. ZABOU painted the portrait on shop shutters on Commercial Street in Spitalfields in 2017. The melting pocket watch extends onto the pavement.

💡 Nerd Fact: Dalí called his soft watches the “Camembert of time.” His painting The Persistence of Memory (1931) measures just 24.1 × 33 cm. It entered New York’s Museum of Modern Art as an anonymous gift in 1934.

💡 Nerd Fact: Yardworks Festival 2023 also marked the opening of Scotland’s first purpose-built studio for street art. The building includes a six-meter-high indoor painting wall, specialist ventilation and flexible spaces for artists and community groups. A glazed frontage lets passersby watch work being made.
