🪟 Balcony Illusion — By Oakoak in Paris, France 🇫🇷

The women come from Bartolomé Esteban Murillo’s Two Women at a Window, painted around 1655–1660. The real window frame and metal railing make the figures appear to watch the passerby below.

💡 Nerd Fact: The National Gallery of Art notes that concealing a smile or laugh was considered polite among the Spanish aristocracy. It suggests that the two women may be a young woman and her chaperone; their identities remain uncertain.

🐭 Nadine and the Surprisingly Effective Joke — By David Zinn

A rock at the edge of the sidewalk becomes the open mouth of a laughing creature. Zinn draws its body across the pavement and places the tiny mouse Nadine beside it. He made Nadine and the Surprisingly Effective Joke in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on March 14, 2021, using chalk, charcoal and the existing landscaping stone.

💡 Nerd Fact: Zinn improvises his temporary street drawings on location using chalk, charcoal and found objects. Nadine is one of his recurring characters.

🐶 Have You Seen This Dog?

The red headline looks like a missing-dog notice. Below the two photos, the message changes: “Now you have. Have a GOOD day.” Even the tear-off tabs offer a greeting instead of a phone number.

🏛️ Relics — By Slinkachu in Northumberland, UK 🇬🇧

A cigarette butt towers over two miniature visitors beside an information board. Slinkachu made Relics at Belsay Hall in Northumberland in summer 2009 for the 2010 exhibition Extraordinary Measures. Photographs were later displayed where his tiny installations had stood, turning the grounds into a trail of miniature tourist attractions.

💡 Nerd Fact: Slinkachu makes his street scenes by remodeling and painting miniature model-train figures. He has been leaving these small installations in public places since 2006.

💡 Nerd Fact: Chaplin first wore the Tramp costume while filming Mabel’s Strange Predicament, but audiences saw it first in Kid Auto Races at Venice. The latter reached cinemas on February 7, 1914, two days before Mabel’s Strange Predicament.

🧜 The Fabulous Tale of Being Different — By Case Maclaim in Madrid, Spain 🇪🇸

Made for MONTÓ × Urvanity Walls in May 2021, this mural stands on Pasaje de la Caja de Ahorros in Madrid. A child in a golden wheelchair wears a homemade mermaid costume, with shimmering scales and yellow fabric stretching down the facade. 💡 Nerd Fact: The initials LSD in Näutil’s work stand for LandScapeDiversion, his name for projects using surfaces found in urban and natural settings. His biography records early graffiti on bunkers and a period studying architecture after moving to Paris in the late 1990s.

🐈 Pink Panther on a Throne — By Matt Gondek in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦
