🐋 The Messenger — By LEHO in Ruifang District, Taiwan 🇹🇼

A blue whale travels through pink clouds, accompanied by paper airplanes. LEHO painted The Messenger in 2023 at the Bitou Cape service area in Ruifang. The 12-by-5-meter work stretches across the building, with the surrounding walls becoming part of its sky.

💡 Nerd Fact: LEHO completed the mural in eleven days, with staff from the Northeast Coast Scenic Area Administration taking part in a painting workshop. In his project account, he also notes that exposure to the coastal environment could shorten the work’s life.

☁️ Nadine and the Cumulus Kitten — By David Zinn in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA 🇺🇸

Nadine has brought an umbrella for her walk with a white cat. The cat, attached to a thin leash, floats above her instead of following along the ground.

💡 Nerd Fact: Nadine is a recurring character in Zinn’s work, alongside Sluggo, a green monster, and Philomena, a flying pig. His artist biography explains that the street drawings are improvised on location using chalk, charcoal and found objects.

☔ Akihabara — By Dan Kitchener in Southend-on-Sea, UK 🇬🇧

Illuminated signs and umbrellas crowd a rainy street, their colors reflected on the painted pavement. Dan Kitchener based Akihabara on his own photographs from Japan, painting it freehand over about three days for Making Waves in September 2021. In a local interview, he describes bringing that Tokyo atmosphere to the wall of The Mews beside Clarence Road Car Park.

🦈 Un été à Cherbourg… — By Blesea in Cherbourg, France 🇫🇷

A broken concrete ring becomes a window into blue water. A shark passes coral and smaller fish, while a person in diving fins sits above the opening. Blesea shared Un été à Cherbourg… in July 2023, using the ruin’s existing depth to make the painted water appear to continue behind its rough edges.

🪐 M3D3A — By Vesod in Tbilisi, Georgia 🇬🇪

Arches, clouds and suspended spheres divide the wall into overlapping spaces. Vesod created M3D3A for Tbilisi Mural Fest in 2022 at 18 Galaktion Tabidze Street, where Billboard Georgia photographed and interviewed him at work. The scene shows Medea preparing a potion for Jason, taking inspiration from John William Waterhouse’s painting while giving Medea the dominant role. Caucasus Business Week’s account explains that dancers from the Georgian National Ballet modeled for the two figures.

🚪 Portal — By Jon Foreman in Little Milford Woods, Wales, UK 🇬🇧

Golden leaves outline a dark strip that runs up a tree and continues across the ground. Foreman made Portal in Little Milford Woods in November 2022, using clay to attach the leaves to the trunk. He shared these photographs in 2025 after recovering them from a failed hard drive. From this angle, the tree seems to contain a narrow doorway.

🌊 The Old Man and the Sea 2.0 — By AÉRO in Morlaix, France 🇫🇷

A sailor’s face shares a weathered wall with a puffin, fish and clouds. AÉRO painted The Old Man and the Sea 2.0 for the 2020 MX29 Graffiti Tour on Rue Daumesnil in Morlaix, drawing on Ernest Hemingway’s novel. 💡 Nerd Fact: The 2020 MX29 Graffiti Tour was organized around the theme of travel. AÉRO’s mural was one of several works commissioned across Morlaix for the festival’s second edition, which went ahead despite uncertainty caused by the pandemic.

🌙 Eye to Eye — By Seth in Fontaine, France 🇫🇷

Two children face one another at 11 and 14 avenue Aristide Briand in Fontaine, with a light sky behind one and a dark sky behind the other. Seth painted Eye to Eye for Street Art Fest Grenoble Alpes in June 2021. Also listed by the festival as Les yeux dans les yeux, the scene spans both buildings, while the real road keeps the children apart.
