🦭 Seal Rescue — By SMUG in Margate, UK 🇬🇧
A rescuer in a yellow jacket cuts netting away from a seal while another pair of hands steadies it. Painted for Rise Up Residency in 2022, SMUG’s mural is on the side of a house on Crescent Road in Margate.
💡 Nerd Fact: SMUG based the scene on photographs he took of British Divers Marine Life Rescue volunteers Jez and Sheila Stone and Mark Noone, who posed on a beach with a model seal and net debris.

⚽ A Moment with Maradona — By Dreier y Nahuel and Nagu Cuellar in Lomas de Zamora, Argentina 🇦🇷
In Lomas de Zamora, Argentina, Diego Maradona sits on a football while his daughter Dalma tucks daisies into his sock. The mural recreates a 1989 photograph of the pair before training, with two-year-old Dalma wearing a yellow dress.
💡 Nerd Fact: Maradona kept the daisies in his socks when training began. Dalma recalled this detail when she shared the photograph for his 58th birthday in 2018.

🌳 The Gardeners — By Seth in Miami, USA 🇺🇸

💡 Nerd Fact: At the unveiling, Seth and Carlie Frullo, whose child was in the hospital’s cardiac intensive care unit, painted a raindrop together. The complete mural could be seen from twenty patient rooms.

🐈 Churu — By Javier Barriga in Antibes, France 🇫🇷

🌼 Water the Flowers — By Mark Samsonovich in Viterbo, Italy 🇮🇹
Two figures have flowers in place of heads, and each raises a watering can toward the other’s blooms. Mark Samsonovich painted Water the Flowers in Viterbo in 2018, beside the entrance to Istituto F. Orioli on Via Villanova. The mural was part of a school initiative against gender-based violence, with mutual respect and care at its center.
💡 Nerd Fact: The project commemorated Silvia Tabacchi, who was killed by her former boyfriend in 2017. The school’s announcement asked pupils to touch up the mural’s outlines and colors each year to preserve both the work and her memory.

🐒 A Glimpse of Humanity — By SMOK in Ronse, Belgium 🇧🇪
A young chimpanzee sits in its mother’s arms, looking upward while she faces the street. SMOK painted A Glimpse of Humanity at Blauwesteen 220 in Ronse, with MataOne curating the mural for VibeRonse. The artist dedicated the wall to all mothers, especially his late aunt Marcelle. Their hands meet near the center, surrounded by thin trails of color.
💡 Nerd Fact: Researchers in Côte d’Ivoire’s Taï National Park have documented wild chimpanzees adopting unrelated orphans. Some males carried their adopted young during travel, shared food with them and let them sleep in their nests.
