“The hero of the new age” – Imprisoned Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny is dead

In a statement released by the Russian prison service, the authority reported that Navalny “felt unwell” after a walk on Friday, and “almost immediately lost consciousness”. According to the statement, medical attention was summoned but failed to revive Navalny.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has been informed of Navalny’s death. Peskov also mentioned that there is no information regarding the cause of death, according to Reuters.
