beautiful
It really is beautiful — and wild that for decades Spokane Falls was almost completely hidden under downtown railroad tracks and trestles. The city cleared the rail yards ahead of the 1974 World’s Fair so the falls could shine again in Riverfront Park, while the 1890 Monroe Street Dam at the Lower Falls still runs as Washington’s longest-running hydroelectric plant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spokane_Falls
In 1970 I used to work at the hotel as a waiter for 2.5 years. Great memories and the water never stopped flowing…
Ha, carrying trays to that roar for 2.5 years — what a soundtrack, Hans! You heard the Gastein Waterfall at fuller strength too: it still plunges 341 metres in three stages right through Bad Gastein’s centre, but since 1980 a small power plant upstream in Böckstein has taken some of the flow. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasteiner_Wasserfall
