Street Art Worth Seeing Again

A raccoon opening a metal box, a glowing wall portrait, a stone circle beside the tide, and colorful bricks repairing a broken wall. We went back through earlier Street Art Utopia collections for 16 photos worth another look.

A large dog lies across a painted recess, its front paws hanging over the edge. The artist working at the left gives away the scale, while the painted sky opens a view through the wall.

🦝 Ellery Checks the Compost — By David Zinn

Ellery lifts the lid of a real metal box, hoping to find something worth eating. The raccoon is chalk, drawn by Ann Arbor artist David Zinn; the little box and its heavy lid do much of the work.

Rosie leans out of a brick-sized opening with a small flower at her nose. The surrounding mortar becomes a window frame for a character small enough to miss on the way past.

🔥 Glowing Portrait — By Bacon in Glasgow, Scotland 🇬🇧

A white flower and pale, sculpted features glow orange from within. Bacon painted the portrait for Yardworks Festival 2025; the wall’s seams and the streetlight in front keep the illusion firmly on the street.

A nuthatch fills the gable above a bench, surrounded by blue leaves and purple flowers. The Meerbeek mural was realized with Treepack, using a design by Collin van der Sluijs.

🌅 Lameroo Western Silo — By SMUG in Lameroo, Australia 🇦🇺

A woman holds a baby against a sunset that stretches around the silos. Completed in April 2025, the western mural honors women in the local farming community. Even the industrial structure between the cylinders becomes part of the scene.

🏮 “El minero de Pulpí” — By Daes Villalba in Pulpí, Spain 🇪🇸

A miner looks out from beneath his hat, holding a lantern that lights his beard and face. The warm portrait sits low on a red wall, almost at eye level with passing pedestrians.

💡 Place Fact: Pulpí’s mining past left more than miners’ stories: the Pulpí geode was discovered in 1999 in Mina Rica, a former silver mine in Almería. The gypsum-lined cavity measures about 11 cubic meters.

🌀 “Expletio Duo” — By Jon Foreman at Freshwater West, Wales 🇬🇧

Two stone spirals curl into each other, with alternating colors making every line easy to follow. Upright pebbles create small shadows that give the flat beach a second surface. Foreman described the piece as one of a planned set of three.

🎈 A Pup Takes Flight — By David Zinn

An orange balloon lifts a small dog above the sidewalk. The open box of chalk sits beside it, making the trick clear without spoiling the little flight.

Large upright stones gradually shrink toward the water, making the circle appear to sink into the beach. The wet edges catch the light with the sea just behind them.

The bird’s face is sharply defined, while its body breaks into loose black strokes and flashes of pink and orange. The painter at the left shows how large this apparently small subject has become.

🍄 “Shroom Sheet” — By Jon Foreman at Freshwater West, Wales 🇬🇧

Flat stones balance on small sticks, forming a low grid above the sand. The stones shift from pale to dark across the arrangement. Foreman made the piece at Freshwater West, a beach on the Pembrokeshire coast, giving the familiar beach pebble a surprisingly delicate support.

🕶️ Daffy in Neon Glasses — By Bill Knospi in Germany 🇩🇪

Daffy Duck wears a broad visor of pink, orange and yellow. Most of the character is reduced to black outlines on gray plaster, leaving the glasses to supply the color.

🧱 “Dispatchwork” — A Project by Jan Vormann

Colorful toy bricks fill gaps in a worn white wall. Vormann’s Dispatchwork project makes the patch impossible to overlook: the repair becomes the detail you stop to inspect.

💡 History Fact: Vormann began the project in 2007 in Bocchignano, a small village in Italy, before taking it to cities such as Tel Aviv, Beirut, Hong Kong and São Paulo.

🕒 “Open 24 Hours” — By Michael Pederson in Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺

A sign points through a hole in a chain-link fence. It is a very small change to a damaged boundary, and the opening hours are hard to argue with.

💡 Artist Fact: Pederson started out as a painter and began making small street interventions as a side project around 2013 after becoming disillusioned with painting.
