Ella & Pitr wrapped a sleeping giant around an entire house in Stavanger, Norway, one hand dangling above the street. Nobody in these eight murals and sculptures seems in any hurry to get up.

🐈 Sleeping Kitten 2 — By WA in Lima, Peru 🇵🇪

The cat has found a space that fits. WA folds the ginger body around the corner, with paws on the painted floor and a real column passing in front.

💡 Artist Fact: WA was the signature of Marko Franco Domenak, a muralist from Sullana who lived in Lima’s Mirones neighborhood. He was killed in Lima in December 2022. El Comercio’s look back at his work recalls an enormous cat he painted sleeping beneath the columns of a building in Mirones.

🌳 Marwin — By Thomas Dambo in Clinton, Iowa, USA 🇺🇸

Flat on his back, arms out, feet up. Marwin has claimed the shade of an old oak at Bickelhaupt Arboretum.

💡 Troll Fact: Marwin is one of the three brothers in Dambo’s The Tree Thieves. The artist’s project page uses Marwin; local partners also use the spelling Marvin.

🛏️ Where Are We Meeting Tonight — By Speker 1 in Morelia, Mexico 🇲🇽

Speker brings the warm light of a bedroom onto an outdoor wall. The woman holds the pillow to her cheek, eyes closed. She is not getting up any time soon.

💡 Festival Fact: Speker’s project page identifies this as a 2025 mural for Morelia’s Harto Arte festival.

🏠 A Giant Curled Around a House — By Ella & Pitr in Stavanger, Norway 🇳🇴

Knees tucked up, cheek on the patterned sleeve, glasses still on. Ella & Pitr bend the resting figure to fit the walls, while the doors and windows carry on being doors and windows. The person walking past gives the scale.

💡 Festival Fact: Ella & Pitr took part in Nuart 2015, fitting their giants onto rooftops and houses around Stavanger. This figure appears to be one half of Wake Me Up When It’s Done, which Nuart describes as a wrap-around diptych on two homes about 100 meters apart in the Storhaug district, with a male and a female giant contorted to fit the walls.

🐴 Sand Horse — By Andoni Bastarrika in Zarautz, Spain 🇪🇸

A rounded stone becomes a headrest. Bastarrika shapes the horse’s muzzle, ear and neck from sand beside the water, leaving one eye open.

💡 Artist Fact: A May 2022 report by EITB shows Bastarrika making this horse’s head and neck on Zarautz beach, a job that took him about seven hours.

🧸 Sleeping Girl — By Tom Wild Sketch in Lausanne, Switzerland 🇨🇭

The girl curls across the end of the underpass, holding a teddy bear close beneath her cheek. Denim, boot laces and the bear’s worn-looking fabric are painted at a scale that makes the passage feel very small. The strip lights overhead do not seem to bother her.

🧒 Jack in the Box — By Seth in Aalborg, Denmark 🇩🇰

The boy rests his head on folded arms, knees pulled to his chest. Seth gives him almost the entire gable, yet he looks tucked into a small space. A colored pencil is still in his hand.

💡 Place Fact: KIRK Gallery documents Jack in the Box at Østerbro 41 in Aalborg in 2019.

💤 Eros on the Square — By Ella & Pitr in Quadrivio di Campagna, Italy 🇮🇹

One arm under his head, ankles crossed, Eros stretches across a whole square. Seen from above, the nearby cars look like toys.

💡 Place Fact: In URBAN AREA’s 2015 project text, the giant is nicknamed Eros and lies across Angeli della Strada, the local market square. The project set out to give the neighborhood more use of a square that was mostly a Monday market and a parking lot. Artribune reported in August 2015 that the painting covers about 3,600 square meters (120 by 30 meters), and that once it was finished the town closed Piazza Angeli della Strada to cars.
