🪴 Abuelo y Niño — By José Manuel Belmonte in Córdoba, Spain 🇪🇸

José Manuel Belmonte’s Abuelo y Niño stands in Plaza de Manuel Garrido Moreno in Córdoba. The life-size bronze group honors the people who maintain the city’s courtyard gardens.

💡 Nerd Fact: Abuelo y Niño is the second work in a three-part tribute to Córdoba’s patio caretakers. La Regadora represents the present, while the grandfather and child represent the tradition’s past and future. The third group, El Pozo de las Flores, depicts a grandmother passing gardening knowledge to a girl.

🌼 Ethan Has Lost Count — By David Zinn

David Zinn’s original post names him Ethan: he has lost count of his flower petals.

💡 Nerd Fact: In his essay Why Chalk?, Zinn says he started drawing on sidewalks to get away from computer illustration work on sunny days. Chalk washes away, which took off the pressure he felt when painting on canvas.

🌼 Ti regalo un fiore (I Give You a Flower) — By Cheone in Porto Viro, Italy 🇮🇹

Cheone created Ti regalo un fiore for Wallabe’s Be One project in 2021. He painted it entirely with spray cans on an A.T.E.R. housing wall facing Piazza Caduti Triestini in Porto Viro.

💡 Nerd Fact: The two daisies on the child’s cap symbolize the union of Donada and Contarina. The two municipalities merged to form Porto Viro in 1995; the project’s name, Be One, refers to that union.

🦋 Là où fleurit l’émerveillement — By Mantra in Versailles, France 🇫🇷

Mantra painted Là où fleurit l’émerveillement at 18 Allée Gabriel Fauré in Versailles in 2020. It was the tenth and final mural in Quai 36’s Project #1096, an art project linked to the renovation of 1,096 homes in the Bernard de Jussieu neighborhood.

💡 Nerd Fact: Mantra used photographs from his parents’ garden in Metz as reference material. He also drew on the palette of Sainer’s neighboring mural, In the Garden, and completed his own work in acrylic over eight days.
