🌳 A Tree for Hair — By Fábio Gomes Trindade in Trindade, Brazil 🇧🇷

A leafy tree rises above a painted woman’s face, carrying her hair beyond the wall. Fábio Gomes Trindade frames the portrait with warm orange leaves and gold hoop earrings. My Modern Met documented the work in September 2021, using photographs supplied by the artist. Its wider view shows the portrait between a macaw and large flowers, with living greenery completing the painted scene.

🌿 A Tiny Baby Opossum — By Hannah Bullen-Ryner in the UK 🇬🇧

Dark eyes, a pink nose and tiny paws emerge from an arrangement of feathers, petals and leaves. Hannah Bullen-Ryner made this baby opossum entirely from natural materials while sitting on the woodland floor. She recalls a magpie coming close as she worked, with long-tailed tits and a robin nearby.

💡 Nerd Fact: Bullen-Ryner uses no fixings, layering heavier pieces over lighter ones to help them stay in place in the wind.

🌸 De Tielse geschiedenis in groen — By Jan Is De Man in Tiel, Netherlands 🇳🇱

Jan Is De Man painted Gert de Graaff’s winning design on the Agnietenhof theater tower in Tiel. Residents chose it with 662 of 1,227 votes. The flowers, fruit and old De Betuwe syrup tin refer to the region’s agricultural and industrial history. Painting began in March 2026, and the municipality confirmed its completion on April 3. In his completion post on April 5, Jan confirms the collaboration and explains that the plants were chosen for their place in Tiel’s history. Zinder’s 22 April 2026 opening programme also listed a free painting workshop beside the mural.

💡 Nerd Fact: The painting schedule included a contingency for nesting swifts. The project’s launch announcement stated that work would pause if the birds returned early to the facade, with any remaining painting postponed until autumn.

🦋 Forest Butterflies — By Dege in Le Puy-en-Velay, France 🇫🇷

Dege painted these butterflies and woodland stream at 116 avenue Foch in Le Puy-en-Velay. Local reporting from the site records that the housing provider OPAC commissioned the roughly eight-by-four-meter mural, completed on 9 August 2024 after almost three weeks. Residents approved the design before he began painting.

💡 Nerd Fact: Dege also worked with young people from the neighbourhood and the Val Vert youth centre on two other murals. Zoomdici’s report from the site documents those collaborations as well as the forest mural’s progress.

🐅 “Ruge o sé devorado” — By Bruno Rosa in Montevideo, Uruguay 🇺🇾

A tiger bares its teeth between bright green leaves on a dark wall. Bruno Rosa calls the mural “Ruge o sé devorado”—“Roar or be devoured.” He painted the 4 × 4 metre commission for La Jungla Fitness Box in Montevideo and shared it in March 2025.

🦜 Red Macaw — By Ludbird in Palmas, Brazil 🇧🇷

A red macaw fills a blue circle on a white wall, with a real potted tree beside it. Ludbird painted the bird at Beco da Amizade in Palmas, Brazil. The little tree looks like a modest perch for such an enormous visitor.
