🍄 “Mushroom Path” — By Jon Foreman at Druidston Haven, Wales, UK 🇬🇧

In a post about the work, Foreman says he made “Mushroom Path” at Druidston in 2024. Flat beach stones balance on thin upright supports across the wet sand at Druidston Haven, forming winding rows of mushroom-like shapes.

💡 Nerd Fact: The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority says Quaternary deposits usually cap the local cliffs, but at Druidston Haven they form the entire cliff. These deposits include glacial till, solifluction deposits, frost-shattered scree, wind-blown sand, and loess.

🦉 Barn Owl and Field Mouse — By Curtis Hylton in Kingston upon Thames, UK 🇬🇧

The mural shows a barn owl made from flowers and foliage above a field mouse on the black gable at 69–75 Clarence Street. Street Art Cities dates it to August 22, 2025; Hylton painted it for the Kingston Street Art Festival.

💡 Nerd Fact: A field mouse is plausible prey, although field voles—not mice—make up the largest share of a British barn owl’s diet. The Barn Owl Trust lists field voles at 45 percent, common shrews at 20 percent, and wood mice at 15 percent. Feeding a breeding pair and their offspring can require almost 4,000 prey animals in a year.

🔥 “Prometheus” — By David Popa Near Elafonisi, Crete, Greece 🇬🇷

Popa made this temporary earth fresco in 2021 at a rocky site near Elafonisi, using water and natural pigments. In his post about the completed project, he lists coconut charcoal and magnetite for black, and oyster-shell gofun and rutile for white. His official project page says the face was made to fade with the elements.

💡 Nerd Fact: Popa’s collaborator Thaddaeus Andreades used photogrammetry to build a 3D model of the temporary fresco from more than 400 images captured by drone. The model recorded the rock face’s heights and depths.

🍂 Leaf-and-Branch Land Art — By James Brunt with Seven Young Syrian Collaborators

In a 2021 post about the work, Brunt says he made it with seven young Syrian men. He writes that there was very little shared language between them, but no lack of communication or understanding. Together, they arranged yellow leaves, green sprigs, and branches around the tree. The caption gives no official title or location.

💡 Nerd Fact: Brunt says he enters a site without a fixed design and works without tools. If he cannot make something with his hands, he does not make it. Repetition often shapes the final form.

🌲 “Stifinder Stig” — By Thomas Dambo in Sønder Felding, Denmark 🇩🇰

Dambo’s 2024 troll crouches under a patchwork shelter among the trees beside Svanholm Lake. VisitHerning says Dambo, his team, and local volunteers built the crawling figure entirely from recycled materials.

💡 Nerd Fact: Dambo lists Stifinder Stig as troll number 152. The materials were carried across Svanholm Lake on a raft, and the freely suspended structure is supported at only a few points.

🌼 Saul, Chief Dandelion Officer — By David Zinn in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA 🇺🇸

In an Instagram post from April 19, 2024, Zinn writes that Saul “has appointed himself Chief Dandelion Officer and Herald of the Chalkbox.” The real dandelion becomes his staff beside Zinn’s open box of chalk.

💡 Nerd Fact: Cornell University reports that common dandelions in North America have three chromosome sets and generally form embryos without fertilization. Insect visits may still be needed to trigger seed production.

🍁 “Raiña da Carballeira” — By BUBLEGUM in Lugo, Spain 🇪🇸

BUBLEGUM painted this mural in 2025 for Urban Cores in his hometown of Lugo, near both the neighborhood where he grew up and a small park called Carballeira. His official project page describes the central figure as the queen of the Galician forest—part meiga, part guardian. The mural stands at Rúa Armórica 67.

💡 Language Fact: The Real Academia Galega defines carballeira as a place populated by oak trees. Meiga can mean a person versed in natural medicine and believed to possess supernatural powers. The title can therefore be translated literally as “Queen of the Oak Grove.”
