A figure stands beneath red and turquoise water, with parts of the body fading into the current. In his caption for the mural, Jotape describes the sunset as a burning tapestry returning the threads of a dream. Created for the Museo de Muralismo in Gómez Carreño, produced by Lira Arte Público and Culturas Viña, and curated by Esteban Barrera Olmedo.
💡 Nerd Fact: Organized mural brigades entered Chilean public life in 1963 during campaigning for the following year’s presidential election. Memoria Chilena records that the practice later spread to Santiago and other cities and became widespread during the 1970 election.

🌠 “Au delà des rêves” — By K2B Graff and Naja Calligraphie in Calais, France 🇫🇷
In Au delà des rêves, a child flies through a star-filled sky while the Little Prince and the fox sit on an asteroid below. K2B says the child represents youth, hope, love and dreams that feel too big. Children at the neighborhood center chose the title. 🐾 “Le gardien de Calais” — By Kataction in Calais, France 🇫🇷
A blue-and-gold long-haired cat watches from the full height of the facade. In a breakdown of the project, Kataction says the 16-by-12-metre mural took eight consecutive days, 45 litres of acrylic and 150 spray cans. 🐎 A Cartujano Horse Beneath a Golden Sky — By Fran Castro (Cosa V) in Jerez, Spain 🇪🇸
A pale Cartujano horse stands beneath shafts of golden light, with the Cartuja de Jerez and Puente de la Cartuja behind it. According to local reporting, the mural is almost 13 meters high. Castro documented the seven-day painting process. The mural was part of a City of Jerez mural program and stands at Calle la Paquera de Jerez 17 in La Asunción.
💡 Nerd Fact: The Cartujano is a strain within the Pura Raza Española, not a separate breed. A pedigree-and-genome study found that seven horses accounted for half of the PRE population’s genetic variability; all seven were 100 percent Carthusian.

🎭 “Tragicomedia” — By Theo Magma in Seville, Spain 🇪🇸
A tear-streaked jester reaches toward a single gold ball in Tragicomedia. Theo Magma’s wider photo set shows the finished mural inside a stripped-out building in Seville.
💡 Nerd Fact: The word tragicomedy first appears in the prologue to Plautus’s Amphitryon, where it is used because the play includes kings and gods alongside a slave.

🌳 “Nature Immersion” Layers Figures, Plants and Birds — By DOPPEL in Kajaani, Finland 🇫🇮
Three moments of an embrace overlap among berries, flowers and birds. In his post for the mural, DOPPEL says “Nature Immersion” was inspired by local flora and fauna. Concreate’s page for the mural says the work is about nature’s cycle and was based on a photograph of the artist’s friend. DOPPEL created it for Concreate Urban Art 2026, organized by Helsinki Urban Art, at Koulukuja 5b.

🪶 Blue Feathers Frame the Portrait — By Wesley Rocha in São Gonçalo do Amarante, Brazil 🇧🇷
Blue feathers, native plants and geometric marks frame a portrait based on a visual reference by Indigenous creator Yãkurixi Xipaya. In his post about the mural, Rocha connects the work to São Gonçalo do Amarante’s Indigenous roots and the Anacé people’s continuing cultural resistance. It was painted on a building intended as a cultural center on Rua Ester Martins.
💡 Nerd Fact: Brazil’s Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office followed the Anacé territorial claim for ten years. A 2013 agreement provided for a 543-hectare reserve and 163 homes while land in their area was being expropriated for the Pecém industrial and port complex.

🏢 Ten Storeys, One Shared Roof — Marco Brzozowski in Schwedt/Oder, Germany 🇩🇪
The ten-storey gable is painted as a stack of open balconies. Schwedt residents of different ages and backgrounds appear in scenes of volunteering, conservation, culture, sport, crafts and industry. Commissioned by WOBAG Schwedt for Lindenallee 64–70. WOBAG’s official project record says the mural was inaugurated on August 6, 2025, under the theme “Wir alle wohnen unter einem Dach”—“We all live under one roof.”
💡 Nerd Fact: Bird nesting boxes were also installed on the building through the “Viva la Fauna” programme, and WOBAG received a plaque for supporting it.

🐧 A Boy and a Puffin Wear Each Other’s Masks — By Seth Globepainter in Kollafjørður, Faroe Islands 🇫🇴
In Seth’s completed mural, a boy in Faroese national dress wears a puffin mask and offers a sand eel to a puffin wearing a human mask. Seth created it for We Need Art in 2026. The mural is at Í Líðini, Kollafjørður.
💡 Nerd Fact: Atlantic puffins use a spiny tongue to press captured sand eels against the roof of the mouth. This lets a parent carry ten or more fish at once to its single chick.

🎭 “DISOCIATIVO” — Duek Glez & Fresa Bogotá in Morelia, Mexico 🇲🇽
A woman closes her eyes as reflective golden masks crowd around her. Duek describes each mask as a different identity. The mural was painted for Futura A.C.’s 15th-anniversary urban-art festival in Morelia. The official call lists the dates as August 14–16, 2026. 🔥 “Between a Rock and a Hot Place” — By Li-Hill in Ilford, London, UK 🇬🇧
A dark-clad figure repeats across the wall, moving from orange heat toward fractured pale rock. Pedestrians walk below the mural. Li-Hill says the title began as a pun when he was asked what the work meant. He painted it live on August 15–16 during Ilford inColour 2026. The wall is on High Road between Popeyes and Boots, and Wood Street Walls helped deliver the festival.

Istraille says this was his first time painting a house facade with windows and a door. He chose black and white with burgundy accents to echo the woodwork. The Breton scene—with a fisherman, lighthouse, boat and gulls—continues around the corner.

⛈️ “Les orages tombent un peu plus loin” — By Rémi Tournier in Nœux-les-Mines, France 🇫🇷
The 15-by-7-metre mural, painted in acrylic, shows a person resting with a black dog beside Tournier’s short poem. In his post about the mural, Tournier says it is less about dogs than about what they mean to him: the refuge they offer during difficult moments and a place to wait for the storm to pass. Painted at Place d’Arras for Festival Les Petits Bonheurs. The municipality says participants from three local organizations supporting people with disabilities helped create it.
💡 Nerd Fact: Titles and written text are central to Tournier’s work. He says they shape how a piece is read and let him paint less expected images.

💡 Nerd Fact: ZABOU uses photography as part of her mural process. In a 2021 interview, she explained that painting directly from photographs—sometimes without a preliminary sketch—helped her develop her realistic portrait style.

🛁 A Traditional Ritual for Bathing a Newborn — Daniela Guerreiro in Cotonou, Benin 🇧🇯
A woman bathes a newborn while another woman and a child sit nearby. Guerreiro says the scene is based on a traditional ceremony for bathing a newborn, a ritual of love and care in which the community welcomes a new child. Painted in April 2026, the work also appears in Guerreiro’s Cotonou portfolio. In the same Instagram post, she describes it as one section of a collaborative mural stretching more than two kilometres. 📦 “Your order is being delivered” Across Two Facades — By Millo in Blois, France 🇫🇷
On one end of the U-shaped Jules-Ferry residence, a blue-clad courier carries a yellow parcel containing a red heart to a green door. On the opposite wall, another figure opens the parcel and receives the heart. Millo says residents chose the design from two proposals. The 192-square-meter diptych was painted across two gables of the social-housing complex at 29 Place Jules Ferry, with production by Unik Art Agency.

🪶 “Glitch3d_G4rza.exe” — KAOS in El Carpio, Córdoba, Spain 🇪🇸
The purple heron is broken into bands of cyan, magenta, yellow and violet across a white facade. Real windows cut through the bird and its colored glitch bars. Created for ELEVARTE 2026. KAOS’s post about the finished mural identifies the bird and says the Guadalquivir basin inspired it. A local report published during the event calls the work Garza_ErrorData.exe, while its later Liga Nacional entry records Glitch3d_G4rza.exe. A later mural listing gives the address as Calle Morente 60.
💡 Nerd Fact: A 2011 census recorded 5,379 breeding pairs of purple herons in Spain, with 70% concentrated in the Guadalquivir marshes. Iberian birds generally winter in sub-Saharan Africa.

💡 Nerd Fact: The Peace Tower’s six mural surfaces measure 288 square metres each—1,728 square metres in total. Augsburg’s official city guide describes the completed project as Germany’s highest mural.

Kovtun translated a digital portrait into paint, using sharp planes of turquoise, orange, black and white. He created the mural for Aura Labs, a new-media art centre at RAW-Gelände, Revaler Straße 99.
💡 Nerd Fact: RAW is a railway acronym, not an art term. The site opened in 1867 as the Royal Prussian Railway Workshop Berlin II and later became a Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk, or state railway repair works—the source of the name RAW-Gelände.

💡 Nerd Fact: A giant panda’s “thumb” is not a true digit. It is an enlarged wrist bone covered by a fleshy pad, which the animal uses to grasp bamboo stalks.

👻 “Fantasma” — By Chiara Loca in Milan, Italy 🇮🇹
In one post, Chiara Loca says the mural combines Eve and Medusa: snakes surround a woman’s face, with a red apple beside it. In another post, she describes Medusa as a woman punished for violence she did not choose. The wall reads, “THE FEMALE GAZE PETRIFIES THE PATRIARCHY.” Loca later posted the work under the title “Fantasma”.
💡 Nerd Fact: The Book of Genesis never identifies the forbidden fruit as an apple. Rutgers classicist Azzan Yadin-Israel traces the apple tradition to 12th-century France, where Old French pom gradually narrowed in meaning from “fruit” to “apple.”

💡 Nerd Fact: Velázquez was eighteen or nineteen when he painted the original, shortly after completing his apprenticeship in Seville. It is one of his early bodegones, naturalistic kitchen or tavern scenes. The word comes from bodega, Spanish for a cellar or inn.

💡 Nerd Fact: Putto is the generic art-historical term for a winged infant. A Cupid is a putto associated with love, while a cherub is a putto used in a religious context.

🦅 Louhi Takes the Form of an Eagle — By Polina Soloveichik in Kajaani, Finland 🇫🇮
Soloveichik’s mural depicts Louhi from the Finnish national epic Kalevala in eagle form. Her wings extend around windows and balconies in the shades of blue she often uses. Painted on the north gable at Koulukuja 3 for Concreate 2026, organized by Helsinki Urban Art.
💡 Nerd Fact: In Runo 43 of the Kalevala, Louhi takes eagle form after Väinämöinen wrecks her warship on a reef during the pursuit. She forms the eagle’s wings and tail from the broken vessel. In eagle form, Louhi carries one hundred swordsmen beneath one wing and one thousand archers on her tail as she attacks the boat holding the stolen Sampo.

🕯️ A Cologne Wall Remembers PERSO — By CanTwo, Omeria & Kont One in Cologne, Germany 🇩🇪
CanTwo describes the central character as a tribute to Australian graffiti writer PERSO, whom he had met and painted with in Sydney 23 years earlier. Blue-and-white pieces by Omeria and Kont One frame the memorial. The larger jam was painted at Hall of Fame Kalkberg on Karlsruher Straße, one of the legal walls listed by the City of Cologne.

🌺 “BLOOM UP” Fills the Blue Wall With Flowers — By Nitram Joke in Vernier, Switzerland 🇨🇭
A woman lifts her hand beside oversized blue and pink flowers. Nitram Joke says “BLOOM UP” was the first time he painted one of his characters at this scale. The 7-by-10-metre work was painted during Subway Burners in August 2026 for House of Paint at Route de Vernier 106.

🐯 A Tiger Pushes Through the Leaves — By Gian.ba1 in Wiesbaden, Germany 🇩🇪
A tiger’s face fills the tiled wall, peering through dense tropical leaves. In his post about the mural, Gian.ba1 says it draws on ancestral spirit and presents Ai Apaec as a protector and guide. He writes that strength comes from balance with nature. Painted in July 2026 at Welfenstraße 1b, the former Kontext cultural center.
💡 Nerd Fact: “Ai Apaec” is a modern archaeological label, not a name securely traced to Moche times. A linguistic and archaeological study traced aiapac, meaning “maker,” to a 1644 Catholic text in which it is used as a title for the Christian God. The Moche figure’s original name remains unknown.
