🎭 “THE MASK” — By DavidL in Barcelona, Spain 🇪🇸

DavidL’s original 2021 post identifies the work as THE MASK and credits the photograph to @dlozano_bcn. A huge green face covers a wall beside the stairs in an abandoned Barcelona building, with a small white dog sitting below.

🪨 “LaLisa” — By Justin Bateman along the Mekong River, Thailand 🇹🇭

In his original post, Bateman titled this 2022 portrait LaLisa and said he made it with pebbles from the Mekong River in Thailand. The subject is BLACKPINK’s Lisa. The pebbles’ natural colors form the highlights, shadows and strands of hair.

💡 Nerd Fact: Bateman dismantles his pebble works after photographing them to restore the natural site. He cites Tibetan sand mandalas, which are destroyed after completion, as an influence.

🐥 Dockside Birds — By Tom Bob in Long Beach, California, USA 🇺🇸

A black double mooring bollard becomes two bright birds on the Long Beach waterfront. ABC7 reported in 2019 that Tom Bob was creating approved works around Long Beach with stencils and spray paint. Each horn forms a head with wide eyes and a beak, while the base becomes a striped nest.

💡 Dock Fact: This fitting is a double-bitt, or twin-horn, bollard. Its two horns can take several mooring lines without using much space on a wharf.

🤳 Selfie With Jesus — By Loretto near Old Street, London, UK 🇬🇧

A Roman soldier raises his phone beside Jesus as he carries the cross, turning a scene from the Passion into a souvenir shot. A geotagged Flickr photo by photographer695, taken on January 2, 2020, places this version near Old Street in Shoreditch.

🎻 “The Hidden Melody” — By Golsa Golchini (2025)

The photograph shows only a close-up. Golchini’s The Hidden Melody is a 17 × 20 × 13 cm mixed-media work made on books. On one side, a patch that looks like peeling plaster forms the body of the musician’s string instrument.

💡 Nerd Fact: According to Winarts, Golchini underwent treatment for a rare bone cancer in 2015–16. After surgery immobilized her right arm for six months, the previously right-handed artist developed her left-hand skills and now works with both hands.

🦖 “Nadine and the Rear-Mounted Hamster” — By David Zinn in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA 🇺🇸

Zinn’s original post shows the dinosaur walking backward while the hamster stands on its tail and Nadine watches nearby. The artist’s short video adds the punchline: the rear-mounted passenger starts beeping as the dinosaur reverses.

🚐 Breaking Bad RV — By Blesea in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, France 🇫🇷

Blesea’s original post dates the work to 2023 and places it in Cherbourg. At Lande Saint-Gabriel, he uses the long concrete shell as the body of the Breaking Bad RV, adding windows, wheels, stripes and a figure in a yellow protective suit on the roof.

💡 Nerd Fact: The yellow protective suits in Breaking Bad were redesigned because the first Tyvek version rustled too loudly during filming. Bryan Cranston told the Smithsonian that the quieter, satin-like replacement was no more breathable.

🦛 Ship Inn Yard Hippo — By Joe Hill of 3D Joe & Max in Stockton-on-Tees, UK 🇬🇧

Joe Hill painted the hippo in Ship Inn Yard near West Row in 2020. The work was commissioned by Stockton BID and refers to a fossilised hippo tooth discovered near Stockton in 1958. Hill designed the illusion so visitors could pose with their heads in the animal’s mouth.

💡 Nerd Fact: The fossil that inspired the commission has not been located. The molar was reportedly sent to London’s Natural History Museum, but the exact quarry where it was found also remains unknown.

🐸 “Yellow Frog” — By Bordalo II in Qala, Baku, Azerbaijan 🇦🇿

Bordalo II built the giant yellow frog from discarded materials, using individual pieces to form its eyes, limbs and skin. He identified the work as “Yellow Frog”. It was created for the 4th International “From Waste to Art” Exhibition, which opened at the Qala State History and Ethnography Reserve on June 14, 2015.

💡 Nerd Fact: Artur Bordalo chose the name Bordalo II as a tribute to his grandfather, the painter Real Bordalo. His official biography says the name continues that family legacy while allowing it to evolve and grow.

🦋 Untitled — By SHOZY at City Walk, Dubai, UAE 🇦🇪

Two hands reach through openings in a bright blue corner while butterflies appear to fly into the street. SHOZY—Danila Shmelev—created the anamorphic work at City Walk for the 2017 Dubai Canvas 3D Art Festival. Brand Dubai announced Shmelev as the second-place winner in the inaugural Dubai Canvas 3D Art Award, whose theme was Happiness. The award announcement does not give the work a title, so it is presented here as untitled.
