🌿 “Diosa de la Naturaleza” (Goddess of Nature) — By SFHIR at Hospital HLA El Ángel in Málaga, Spain 🇪🇸

SFHIR calls this 2019 section Diosa de la Naturaleza. It was painted at Hospital HLA El Ángel in Málaga. Real shrubs form the figure’s hair, and her painted hand holds a green heart.

💡 Nerd Fact: HLA describes the larger 2019 project as an 80-meter mural about medicine and the culture of Málaga. It included sections titled Diosa de la Naturaleza, Laboratorio de sueños, and El gran Pablo Picasso.

🌿 “Cobija” — By El Decertor in Andrade Marín, Imbabura, Ecuador 🇪🇨

In a 2019 post, El Decertor titled the mural Cobija and identified the sleeping girl as Manuela. It was created for NuMu Festival. Municipal documentation places it on Calle 10 de Agosto in Barrio El Rosario, Andrade Marín. Her face, hand, pillow, and plush hedgehog are painted, while a living hedge forms her blanket.

💡 Nerd Fact: In an interview archived by Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal, El Decertor said this mural in Ecuador was his clearest example of letting the site suggest the idea: he saw how the space could become a blanket covering a child, asked permission, and painted the mural.

🐱 “Peeking cat” — By Andy “Dice” Davies (Dice67) in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, UK 🇬🇧

A giant cat peers from the dark brick arch, one paw reaching toward the boy in the photograph. Street Art Cities lists it as Peeking cat and maps it beneath Cirencester Road, near 279 Cirencester Road. It can be reached via Little Herberts Road and Little Herberts Nature Reserve.

💡 Nerd Fact: Davies told Street Art Utopia that the painted cat is his own pet and the boy in the photograph is his son.

🌀 “Below” (2021) — By Jon Foreman at Lindsway Bay, Pembrokeshire, Wales 🇬🇧

Foreman’s official archive dates Below to 2021 and places it at Lindsway Bay in Pembrokeshire. Concentric marks make the flat sand look like a deep opening beside the sea. The work was temporary and left to the elements.

💡 Nerd Fact: Foreman says his temporary sand drawings can reach 100 meters across.

🐯 “Tijgers van de Kolenkit” — By Sidney Waerts in Amsterdam, the Netherlands 🇳🇱

Amsterdam’s public-art registry records Tijgers van de Kolenkit as a 2020 Muren van West mural at Wiltzanghlaan 68–88. Its six tigers were inspired by the neighborhood’s tijgervrouwen — local women who organize community activities and help watch over the area.

💡 Nerd Fact: The Dutch monument register says the Opstandingskerk was nicknamed “Kolenkit” because its tower resembled a coal scuttle.

🥬 “Crunchie” — By Helga Stentzel, a London-based artist 🇬🇧

Stentzel arranges lettuce inside a green wheelie bin so the pile looks like a shaggy dog. Her studio lists Crunchie in its Edible Creatures series.

💡 Nerd Fact: Stentzel shared Crunchie on Earth Day 2020 and encouraged people to cook with leftovers instead of throwing them away.

🌿 Driftwood figure — By Vancouver Island artist Debra Bernier 🇨🇦

Bernier sees each piece of driftwood as an artwork already shaped by the earth, ocean, and tides. Here, the trunk’s grain, bends, and branching roots suggest a woman’s form.

💡 Nerd Fact: Bernier describes her process as collecting wood on a Vancouver Island beach, working on it in her studio, then returning to the same location to photograph the finished sculpture.

🍇 “Gonfleurs de raisin” / “Inflaters” (2016) — By Akiko Ida & Pierre Javelle (MiniMiam)

MiniMiam’s official gallery dates the photograph to 2016. One miniature worker pumps up a raisin while two others carry another between the grapes.

💡 Nerd Fact: MiniMiam says the series began with a 2002 commission. The artists then started using model-train figures to tell stories with food.

🕳️ “Mélancolie” (2012) — By Albert György — Formerly on view at the Rotonde du Mont-Blanc in Geneva, Switzerland 🇨🇭

This photograph was taken while the seated bronze was exhibited at the Rotonde du Mont-Blanc. A large hollow runs through its torso, giving physical shape to absence and grief.

💡 Nerd Fact: A City of Geneva research note identifies the bronze as a 2012 work measuring 2 meters high, 1.90 meters wide, and 1.20 meters deep. As of that 2024 note, the original had been sold and was in Toronto.
