Some walls take themselves far too seriously. These nine do not.

A smiling child, one extremely curious ostrich and a fish that looks just as surprised as the man holding it. Nine recent murals with one thing in common: the joke still works before you know anything about the wall.

🪶 Curious Ostrich — By Jenksart at Bolesworth Castle in Tattenhall, Cheshire, UK 🇬🇧

An ostrich leans straight toward the viewer with huge eyes, a tilted beak and ruffled feathers. Jenksart documented it as one of his paintings for Together Again Festival at Bolesworth Castle. The official event page dates the 2026 festival to 24–26 July.

🚜 “Le radici di una passione” — By Fedezen in Fossato di Vico, Italy 🇮🇹

A smiling child plays with bright yellow excavators, a dump truck and a bulldozer inside an otherwise black-and-white scene. In his original post, Fedezen calls the mural “The roots of a passion” and describes it as an 80-square-metre spray work for Eco Inerti. The company’s excavation and quarrying work gives the yellow machines a direct connection to its Via Eugubina site.

🎣 The Catch Looks Back — By Feck Criss in León, Mexico 🇲🇽

A startled man and the fish in his hand mirror each other’s alarm, freezing a perfectly timed cartoon joke on the wall. Feck Criss documented the finished mural at Escuela Secundaria General No. 16 “Pedro Moreno”. It was painted for END Crew’s 16th-anniversary gathering, held from 24–26 July 2026.

🦸 “Home Is the First Place We Can Be Superheroes” — By Mister Oreo in Mosbach, Germany 🇩🇪

Three children huddle together in handmade Batman masks beneath a small glowing halo. In his post about the mural, Mister Oreo writes that love, comfort and belonging are the first real powers children receive. He painted it for Graffiti Festival Mosbach on Güterhallenweg, opposite Neckarelz station.

🦎 “Le Gecko Volant” — By Braga Last One with Les Créateurs de Bonheurs in Divion, France 🇫🇷

A gecko hangs beneath a smiling, parachute-like cloud while painted vines climb around the house, folding the real windows and front door into the scene. According to Braga’s post, he created “Le Gecko Volant” with Les Créateurs de Bonheurs for Festival Les Petits Bonheurs. The official artwork listing places it at 31 Rue Villebois-Mareuil.

🚲 The Bicycle Lesson — By Marc Robitzky in Aschaffenburg, Germany 🇩🇪

A laughing girl rides toward us with her arms spread while her father runs directly behind the bicycle. Stylefile Magazine’s post frames the scene as a balance between protection and letting go. Robitzky painted it at Bernhardstraße 27 for an Aschaffenburger Kulturtage project marking Damm’s 125th anniversary.
