Dirty Van Art (11 Photos)

Dusty vans are being transformed into amazing mobile murals. This collection features works by two artists who’ve mastered the art of grime: ProBoyNick (Nikita Golubev) and James Gibson. Look closely—these temporary pieces are etched into layers of dirt with breathtaking detail.

Dirty van art by ProBoyNick in Moscow showing five lifelike faces peering out from the dusty rear doors of a van, etched with photorealistic detail in light and shadow.

1. Hidden Faces

A haunting group portrait emerges from the grime, with five distinct characters etched into the dust. Each face is expressive and unique, staring out like ghostly passengers behind imaginary windows.

Dirty van art of the Joker in jail, leaning forward with arms hanging through dust-drawn bars, detailed in a high-contrast white-on-dirt technique by James Gibson.

2. Joker Behind Bars

A striking image of the Joker behind jail bars, recreated with high contrast by only removing dirt. His face is partially shadowed, and his hands hang through the imaginary bars.

Playful dirty van art of Cheburashka with large round ears and a toothy grin, drawn with minimal strokes into a lightly dusted van surface.

3. Cheburashka Doodle

A light-hearted contrast to the other works: a simple sketch of Cheburashka, the iconic Russian cartoon character, smiles cheerfully through the dust.

Dirty van art of a WWI battlefield scene showing soldiers in trenches and smoke in the background, etched with photorealistic shading by James Gibson.

4. Battlefield Scene

A detailed battlefield is revealed on this Transit van. Soldiers crouch behind terrain as others advance, with every element—from helmets to distant trees—scratched from dust.

Figures sink and float alongside sharks and sea creatures in this underwater fantasy. The composition moves diagonally, as if captured mid-descent.

6. King and Horse

This dramatic nighttime piece depicts a regal figure in a crown beside a stoic horse, both rendered in sharp contrast against the van’s darkened dirt layer.

Monochrome dirty van drawing of a bald human figure sitting curled into themselves with arms around knees, isolated on the lower left of the van.

7. Cyklop

A single large head rests with knees pulled in, arms wrapped around the legs. The style is minimalist but powerful, carved from dirt in long, careful strokes.

8. RoboCop with a Message

A robotic figure, resembling Robocop, stands next to large text reading “ALL CATS ARE BEAUTIFUL,”.

A whimsical castle looms in the distance down a long road, flanked by mountains and birds. It’s a fairytale etched into the back of a Sprinter van.
