🌧️ Dancing in the Rain — By Bart Smeets in Aalborg, Denmark 🇩🇰
A girl in a yellow raincoat jumps above a puddle in Dancing in the Rain, made for Out in the Open. Bart Smeets based the gray streetscape on old photographs of the neighborhood, with the child painted in warm colors. Find it in the courtyard behind Samsøgade 36–38, by Strynøgade 13.
💡 Nerd Fact: The mural was developed with housing organisation Vivabolig around the history of Aalborg’s working-class courtyards. KIRK Gallery reports that residents recognised the puddle-jumping scene from their own childhoods.

🦇 An Unlikely Double Act — By Dreadpaints + Pilot Graff in St. Louis, USA 🇺🇸

Purple, orange and yellow flowers spill from two enormous black boots. In Zach Curtis’s CK Can Jam mural, the paint-spattered Dr. Martens belong to fellow artist Emily Ding. Curtis chose them for the colors, beads and charms that reflect her work and personality.

🦉 A Great Horned Owl — By Paul Watty in Allen Park, USA 🇺🇸
Amber eyes look out from layers of finely painted feathers. Paul Watty painted the owl for Paint the Park at Deep Roots Massage in Allen Park, Michigan. The wall is at 17218 Ecorse Road.
💡 Nerd Fact: A great horned owl’s facial feathers help channel sound toward its ears. According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, females are larger than males, but males have larger voice boxes and deeper calls. You can tell a duetting pair apart by pitch.

🪐 JUPITER — By Millo in Trnava, Slovakia 🇸🇰
A barefoot figure in blue sits on a huge orange planet above a black-and-white city. Millo’s JUPITER fills a facade at Hospodárska 3617/81. The local apartment blocks are named after planets, which inspired the theme of this commission for Trnava’s Galéria ulice public-art project.

💡 Nerd Fact: The festival’s account of Laminar Dream connects its title to smooth, uninterrupted flow. One of the painted planes is depicted as water rather than paper, linking the scene to research on fluids and flight. Developed with science partners ZARM and ECOMAT, it is one of eleven murals in Bremen’s 2026 “Beauty of Science” programme, whose information panels explain the research behind the works.
