Street Art by JR – “The Wound” They say the museums are closed but we still have the freedom to dream

JR at Strozzi Palace, Florence, Italy.

“The Wound” is now revealed! 28 meters high and 33 meters wide, JR’s monumental installation is a visual gash on the façade of Palazzo Strozzi, which opens up to the vision of a real and imagined interior. It is a reflection on accessibility not only to Palazzo Strozzi but to all places of culture in the era of Covid-19.

“They say the museums are closed. But it’s up to us to open them. Here is Florence, the city of Boticelli, Donatello, Machiavel and Dante, we opened the Palazzo Strozzi. These last few months, we have been deprived from the possibility to be together… but we still have the freedom to dream, to create, to envision the future. Maybe, it’s not much, but we have that!” – JR
